The dirt road made me feel closer to home,
even though I knew we were no where near my home,
it had nothing to do with the road,
it was just that there was no light pollution,
and I could see it all,
everything up there,
the stars,
the weight of the world lifting off into oblivion,
and I thought I could smell the clouds,
or the makings of them,
I thought I could hear the wind,
and the sound of the fog coming down too low for comfort,
but it was my imagination,
it was me,
wanting to be closer to you,
to our home,
to when we didn't think about the beginnings of the end
