Two In The Same


"Do you think you know what love is?"

"Sometimes."

"And those times?"

"I don't know, I guess.  I think I just figured that maybe I never knew what it was before this."

"Hindsight."

"Yes, I suppose."

"But that isn't what it means.  That's just you.  That's just your own definition."

"Isn't that the only one that matters?  Isn't it relative?"

"That it is."

"It's like when Orson Welles wrote that line.  Or was it Menkiewiecz?  I suppose it doesn't matter who said it but it was something about love being on your own terms.  And then about how those are the only one's anyone knows.  His own terms."

"You're pretty perceptive for someone who doesn't know what love means."

"You didn't ask what it means."

"Didn't I?"

"You asked what it is."

"Isn't that the same thing?"

"Only if we are."
