The Newfound Luck of the Irish

I sat silently,
and patiently,
for a very,
very long time,
waiting for this day,

for retribution,

I let storm clouds reside above my cranium,
an lightning be that as it may,
as it dismayed,
for a very,
very long time,

I had dreams of stadium lights,
and very,
very green grass that belonged to him,

and of being a wallflower to watch the dance so many Moons ago,

Once,
when I was little,
and I was taught about shaking down the thunder from the sky,
I knew I could be,
would be,
really something

and then I got green with envy,
as most of us do,

And today,
under this Moon,
under our grass,
under their lights,

I was walloped with millions of clovers,
stored up there,
from scores and scores of days ago,
all for this

and they made all the difference,
did they not---
