After All

Things were very dark indeed---

and I was the missing kind

It's all I could do to make this go from bad

to worse

to better

We were on the rocks

on the ground floor

and I didn't like it

not for one second

living here was keeping me from getting there

and I was fairly certain that I needed that monorail

no---

not needed

wanted

because then we could be up front

about not having to touch each other

because that would be the norm---

I liked what I had to say to you once upon a day

and what I had to say for myself today

and that was all good

so that I could go hop and skip and jump

and scotch myself from one to the next
