Fair Weathered

My head was split open,
on the right side first,
then down the middle,
then I handed you the serving knife and asked you to treat it more like an avocado than a melon,
I knew that would be best for everyone involved,

I was thinking we could split these into hemispheres,
and quadrants,
and maybe we could find the Bermuda Triangle,
or the moment everyone skimmed over when we gave away the Panama Canal,

that all sounded promising,
though I didn't like making promises,
I just wasn't able to keep them anymore,
my synapses were falling apart,
and I was short circuiting but didn't want to say it aloud,

but my head,
it was too far open and gone,
and I was in disrepair,
laughing and spitting uncontrollably
