Meridian Keeper

The light stayed on and I could not do much else for you,
and I liked you for some godforsaken reason that I could not explain to anyone else,
and the music kept stopping over and over and over,
like it knew exactly how to scoop out my insides,
and start passing them out to others on a cafeteria line,
like the green Jell-O,
or the yellow Jell-O you she used to by me as a child,
but it didn't taste good unless it was preceded or followed by macaroni and cheese,

but the light stayed on,
because it was easier for you to leave it there,
like that,

it was easier that way,
just not for me
