The Waiting Pool

I was tired,

I broke my foot in two,
and then three,

and on my foot,
feet,
there was a large bruise,
and inside that bruise,
there was a cavity,

and inside the cavity,
things were starting to yellow,
and then blue,
and then green,
and then gangrene,

and I was tired,
so I let the jade climb through my skin,
and up my leg,

until it settled on my pelvic area,
until it formed an emerald pool in my innards,

and it sunk its venom into all my sleepy synapses,

and for what,
for the midnight wading I had done earlier in evening,
merely in the name of solitude---
