The Timing of Timidity
"What did it mean when she said she died of a broken heart?"
"She didn't say it. Someone else did."
"No, she said it."
"How could she have said it if she's the one who died? That makes no sense."
"She said it right before she died."
"I guess it means what it always means. Unrequited love."
"That's a depressing way of putting it, isn't it?"
"Is there a reason not to put it that way? It's not like she's here listening over our shoulder?"
"I don't know. I like to think she's still---"
"Now you're getting into a whole philosophical terrain, I'm not interested in visiting, if that's alright."
"It had to have meant something else. It couldn't have been as simple as unrequited love."
"You think unrequited love is simple?"
"Well--"
"It's timing. It's not simple at all when it's about timing. Why didn't she say anything when she had the chance?"
"Isn't everything about timing?"
"No. Chance, maybe."
"Exactly."
