Hollywood was everything they said it was and more.
sex.
glamour.
murder.
scandal.
beauty.
swimming pools.sunshine at the right time.
rain when you needed it.
fancy automobiles.
confetti.
palm trees lining the streets.
white houses with Spanish tiles.
flashbulbs.
jewels on defined collarbones.
mint satin nightgowns.
furs that made you forget about consequence.
Until it wasn't.
Idolatry was never frowned upon, but rather condoned,
as it should be when you can roll your eyes at a role model, if you so desire.
They were still models,
so it seemed.
and everything was for show,
line with crooked politicians,
and wannabe Barrymores and Valentinos
Everyone worked for W.R.,
until they didn't,
And everything smelled of oranges,
and life,
and then,
death---
