We had reasons to mistrust each other,
you and I
and
we were aware of our misgivings,
as most selfish people are,
but it was our apathy that outed us,
that took a chokehold on our conscience,
in pursuit of some counterfeit kind of circumnavigation
believing that being well traveled meant we were well versed,
in the human condition,
our nomadic tendencies had somehow led us astray,
barking up the trunk of a decaying tree
We reflected on all of this,
you and I,
in our pooling swirls of thought,
until we dangled our faces long enough,
and without purpose,
to see the errors of
your ways
