An Immovable Beast

I had a bloody, bloody nose---
There were no two ways about it.

I woke up back down and my neck immovable on a stretcher---
and it was pitch, pitch black.

Even putting my hand up in the air,
in the plane in front of my face,
did nothing, absolutely nothing

As far as they were concerned,
pin drops were the only antidote to lifelessness---
pin drops and the electric blue infiltrating the sky outside

One tiny fleck of that blue was enough to jerk me up and at 'em,
but there was blood going everywhere;
it was a red, red, mess in here

But crawling somehow seemed like a good idea again,
and the wind wound down to its humble beginnings with the tap dancing of leaves
and out there it was oh so very, very blue

  1. What a surreal scene. I get a very disorienting feeling from your writing. I like the clashes of red and blue. Would love to see how you might expound upon that. Beautiful.
