Branching Out

We had intercourse on the top of a Grand Piano
somehow, I imagined that would make this all so glamourous
that we would ignite fireworks they only spliced together up there

We fancied ourselves inventors
but all the inventors--no, all the pioneers--died so very long ago
and if you ever tried to say it ain't so,
then I would tell you to take your phone booth back to 1893

Perhaps it's not always that two are better than one
especially not when they say three is a crowd
it's just simple math.

And if we were any kind of inventors at all, you and me,
we would just get down to the issue at hand
and we would look at the roots and the soil underneath our dirty fingernails
and we would see the leaves stuck in our hair,
we would see our radicles hunting for something to latch on to

We would talk about being indifferent
and we would come back from our tangent
saying something about how it's all derivative

or relative

  1. Every thing could be relative and derivative I hope the combination will work out for each of us!!!!
