Hand In Pocket

I got to be very good at envy---
it was a talent just the same
and I let it settle there at the bottom of my insides for one reason

and one reason only

I could run faster than you---
and after all,
there's nothing wrong with a little healthy---

But we weren't---
we were hunched over
and living by the trigger effect

Our peripheries were suffering from some kind of wear and tear---
the whispering had deafened us two

And we died there side by side
limp---
and with a lifeless handshake

  1. very interesting. Poetic, critical, and pensive. Sort of sad as well. Almost as if to say, "What's the point in striving for something?" But I am not sure if I've misread it. Definitely something sad and existentialist about it as well.
