The Dichotomy of Duchenne

My head felt so warm there on your shoulder
and we swayed back and forth until you felt right
about putting your hands there

There were few things that would lead us back to this
so we stopped counting the seconds
and just started with recalling the smell of all of it

And I was very certain that we would be just this way
even in the light of day

so we walked together in the moonlight
and to the bottom of the quarry
in the middle, we turned and faced each other
and we backtracked until the mist settled in like Red

and questioned how far we would love each other then
and whether we would know what laughter sounded like in the future

But I knew it didn't matter---
because we would always find each other funny

  2. this stanza is great:

so we walked together in the moonlight
and to the bottom of the quarry
in the middle, we turned and faced each other
and we backtracked until the mist settled in like Red
