The Murderous Magic of Monique the Modiste

When she was good at what she did
way back in the day
she would make beautiful, magnificent bubbles of intricate works
and she could make you happy

When she was in love with what she did
way back then
she stitched an umbrella for your legs
and made you feel pretty all over

But things took a turn rather quickly for Monique and her skillset
jealousy got the best of her
and her needle

And once, on a Tuesday, she went
tap, tap, tap
with her finger
and she could no longer stand the thought of that woman wearing her dresses
her works of art

And she stood right behind the Mademoiselle
and thread her needle
and ran it up the backside to her neck
where she went
prick, prick, prick, prick, prick, prick, prick
and she made a cherry cushion all for the keeping

She unhinged Mademoiselle from the pistachio skeleton
put it on herself and fancied a look in the mirror
and just as she turned to admire the detail of the fabric buttons---
she saw it all crystallizing
and the demise of the festoon was the last thing ahead
