The Other Wise

I had been confined to the back room for no good reason

They said it was because I was toxic and my uncertainties in my own humanity were seeping through my pores

and they said that was infecting the others

and in this perilous time, there was only room for optimism

I didn't think I was passive aggressive, but I wasn't all that sure either

There were a lot of them in there convincing me

There were directions I wasn't willing to follow

and horizons I wouldn't venture toward

I wasn't stubborn

It was foresight

and I had attributes that were out of sight and out of mind
