Her heart gave out

That's what they said when they documented the scene

That she was lifeless

And the Get Well Soon balloons surrounding her were on the decline

the fritz

making their way to the tiled floor

and the rain is falling outside her window

predictably

washing away the moments of these last months

And people would begin to talk about her

and forget all her flaws

and only remember the way her crow's feet reminded them of tree rings and infinite life

and kindness

and what was good about all of this
