The Confectioner's Last Stand

The cotton candy was lodged in the back of her mouth--
it wouldn't dissolve like the rest of what was spun
rock candy was taking its place in her mouth

One by one by one by one by one by one
the fairy floss and thensome
and then she put a hand in the reservoir
the roundabout

and it was crimson
and backwards
the rainfall of Galvarino
and her own Millarapue

--the cherry, cherry, soda pop

  1. beautiful, yet mysterious. The story has me confounded but the imagery lives on.
